SpiceJet launches Kochi – Maldives flights
On November 29, 2012, Indian low-cost airline SpiceJet launched its newest international route from Kochi, India to Male, Maldives.Daily flights will be operated using a Bombardier Q400 aircraft.
“This is the airline’s first international launch on any international route from Kerala,” said SpiceJet Chief Commercial Officer Harish Kutty, “At present, SpiceJet operates international flights from Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Madurai.”
One-way fares on the Kochi – Male route start from 4,999 India Rupees ($92 USD) including taxes.
SpiceJet to establish regional base in Delhi
Indian low-cost airline SpiceJet has announced it will establish a new regional base in Delhi. The airline will base five of its Bombardier Q400 aircraft at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport.
This new base will help SpiceJet expand its services in Northern India. The airline has already announced new routes from its Delhi base, including flights to Amritsar, Chandigarh and Indore starting on July 12 and flights to Dehradun starting on July 19, 2012.
In addition to the new Delhi base, SpiceJet has regional bases in Hyderabad and Chennai.
India’s SpiceJet to begin Dubai flights
Indian low-cost airline SpiceJet has announced it will begin direct flights to Dubai, UAE. Flights will be available from June 25, 2012, with departures from Delhi or Mumbai.
SpiceJet will operate a daily round-trip flight for each of these two new routes. Dubai is SpiceJet’s third international destination after Kathmandu and Colombo. SpiceJet has grown to be India”s second-largest budget carrier in terms of market share.
One-way fares start from 4,447 rupees ($81 USD) plus taxes and surcharges.
