Air India Express is the low-cost subsidiary of Air India. It was founded in 2004 for the purpose of offering affordable fares between India and the Middle East. International and domestic services commenced in April 2005.
Air India Express now operates about 100 flights per week. Its domestic network serves 12 cities in India and the main hubs are Kochin International Airport and Trivandrum International Airport in South India. International destinations include Bahrain, Bangladesh, Kuwait, Malaysia, Oman, Qatar, Singapore, Sri Lanka, and United Arab Emirates.
Air India Express operates a fleet of Boeing 737-800 aircrafts. Though it is a budget airline, Air India Express serves a complimentary light meal to all passengers.
